In another big move from Amazon, it is now going to be selling the current Kindle WiFi and 3G models from Woolworths, Big W and Dick Smith Electronics stores here in Australia starting August 29.
Did I say this was big news? Oh boy, this is HUGE!
While Australians could always have purchased the Kindle direct from Amazon itself, up until now the only ereader that could be purchased in stores was the Kobo through Borders (prior to the store closures), Sony ereaders through some department stores, and lots of smaller unknown branded ereaders.
Now however one of the largest discount department stores and supermarkets in Australia will be stocking the Kindle.
And if they are doing it here in Australia, I have no doubt they are doing the same worldwide.
When Big W started selling the iPad, sales jumped significantly for the tablet.
So did Amazon just double, triple or even quadruple its customer base with this move?
Can you even fathom how many people, who would not have otherwise have thought about buying one, are now going to own a Kindle this Christmas.
And all those customers are going to want to have books to read.
Like I said. HUGE!
Now get writing.
